Launching New Dimensions of Service
Target I: Educational Enrichment ~ This target is designed to motivate, engage, and assist high school students in reaching their maximum potential by focusing on achievement, self-awareness, communication, engagment, networking, and developmental skills. Members will also distribute one million backpacks and similar school supplies. Think HBCU is another program that highlights HBCUs and their contribution to society and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Target II: Health Promotion ~ WIll promote health awareness in three areas: Alzheimer's Disease, Mental Illness, and Stroke. The Alzheimer's Disease and Caregiver Support Program will generate support and awareness of this disease through research and programming. Stroke Awareness will place emphasis on hypertension management, diet, and exercise through a major stroke awareness campaign. Mental Health will be highlighted as members bring attention to this illness among diverse populations.
Target III: Family Strengthening ~ The goals of this target is to target critical issues many families of today face. This includes: lack of food, financial means, and shelter. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will be in partnership with food banks, local agencies, and community pantries. The program will also collect and donate items like: hats, socks, gloves, scarves, coats, and sweaters. Families will increase their understandings of budgeting, benefits of home ownership, and basic financial planning.
Target IV: Environmental Ownership ~ This will implement high impact programs to not only provide health living environments, but to also improve the quality of life in many undeserved communities. Launching programs to make sure that children have inviting and safe places to play by restoring and renewing exsisting community and school playgrounds. It will also encourage people to recycle and prevent littering.
Target V: Global Impact~ Alpha Kappa Alpha members will work in partnership with the United Nations Association to educate and expand understanding of the United Nations by explaining its mission and focus.
